This was the location of the former USAF Ramey Air Force Base. It was once a SAC base then MAC. The Air USAF departed in early 1974, leaving most of the property to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The US Coast Guard has operated an Air Station here since 1971. Commissioned USCG Air Station Puerto Rico in 1971 after moving from the old Naval Air Station in San Juan, both HH-52 and (FW)HU-16a aircraft were assigned until the HH-3F was activated there. I was stationed here from July 1972 to June 1974. The Air Station was renamed (around 1975?) USCG Air Station Borinquen. HH-3F assigned were the 1489, 1490 and 1491.
