Two helicopters ordered in September 2011 for SAR and transport per DKK 380 million ( ~ $60M ) and to be delivered during 2014. The contract was cancelled in February 2014 before delivery given the slowdown offshore Arctic development in the region and not enough demand for such services according Air Greenland. The exit charges were over 4 percent of the cost.
In September 2019 was announced the H225 was selected once again to replace the S-61 in the SAR role. Two former offshore oil-and-gas helicopters will be delivered with a comprehensive maintenance and support package by Airbus.
The two H225 helicopters where completed by Heli-One in Poland before delivery.
