Established 1986, Mountain Area Medical Airlift (MAMA) is Mission Health System's air medical program based at Asheville serving areas of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.
Started with Bo105, upgraded to Bk117 and now flying EC135.
MAMA was the first civilian EMS helicopter service in the U.S. to use Night Vision Goggles (NVG).
Since 2017 operated by Metro Aviation and flying 2-3 times per day
